Can we talk about how The Walking Dead changed after season 5

Honestly, I know a lot of people say the show fell off after season 3, but for me the real shift happened between seasons 5 and 6. The first five seasons felt like a tight, desperate survival story, but by the middle of season 6 it became all about setting up the next big villain. I binged those seasons back to back last month and the pacing difference is huge. Has anyone else felt the show lost its core tension around that point?

What made you stick with it after the quality drop?

The sunk cost fallacy got me good, I'd already put so much time in. Plus, my friends were still watching and talking about it every week.
