Friend told me my show picks were all too slow, so I gave up on pacing rules
My buddy Dave said I only watch shows that take 4 episodes to get going, and he was right about me sitting through 3 hours of a slow drama before anything happened. I cut out anything that doesn't hook me by the end of episode 2 now, and it totally changed what I binge. Anyone else have someone call out their viewing habits and actually take the advice?

Friend told me my show picks were all too slow" - oh man, I had my sister sit me down and tell me the same thing. She said I had the attention span of a patient librarian, so I switched to giving shows exactly two episodes to impress me and it's wild how many I drop now. Honestly, it's annoying but totally worth it, I'm actually finishing series instead of nodding off three episodes in.

Two episodes is actually the magic number for me now too. I used to be one of those people who'd force myself through a whole season because I kept thinking "it has to get good eventually, right?" but nah. I tried that with The Expanse last year and wasted like 15 hours before I admitted I just didn't care. Now if a show hasn't hooked me by episode two I'm gone and honestly my TV backlog has never been healthier.

Yeah I read this thing on a streaming blog that said the average person gives up after 2.2 episodes now, and it made me feel way less guilty about my own dropping habit. @sandragrant you mentioning the librarian thing cracked me up because my wife says I have "the patience of a gnat on caffeine" when it comes to shows. I used to push through four or five episodes thinking I owed it to the creators, but now I just trust my gut and it saves me so much time for stuff I actually enjoy.
