I thought everyone was crazy for loving Dark until I gave it a third chance

I tried watching Dark twice and bounced off it hard because of the dubbing. But my coworker kept insisting so I watched it in German with subtitles and by episode 5 I was completely hooked. Has anyone else had to switch to subtitles to make a show click for them?

Got a buddy of mine who refused to watch The Wire for years because the first episode felt slow and boring to him. He finally sat down with the subtitles on just to catch every word of dialogue and it clicked for him around episode three. Now he says it's the best show he's ever seen and he's watched the whole thing three times. Funny how a simple change like that can make such a big difference.
