My brother told me to skip the first two episodes of Severance
He said they were slow and the real hook was episode three. I watched them anyway and almost gave up, but he was right, the third one grabbed me hard. Has anyone else had a show where the starting advice was totally wrong or right?

Gotta be honest, I don't get all this "trust the process" stuff. If a show can't grab me in two or three episodes, I'm out. My time's worth more than waiting for some big payoff later.

Your brother was spot on about Severance. The first two episodes are a real test of patience. What other shows have you tried where the start was a slog but it paid off later? I had that with The Wire, took me three tries to get past the first few episodes.

Oh man, I get that feeling completely! My friend told me to power through the first season of Parks and Rec, and I'm so glad I did because it totally changes. @julias44, I feel you on The Wire too, that's another one where you have to trust the process. It's like some shows need that extra time to build the world, even if it's a slow start.

Honestly I gave up on Parks and Rec after four episodes. If a show needs a whole season to get good, that's just bad writing. My free time is too short for homework.
