Serious question, why does everyone say The Wire is slow in season 2 when that season has the best payoff?
I started rewatching The Wire in January and finished season 2 last night, and I keep seeing new fans online say to skip it or push through because the docks storyline feels boring. That bugged me so I actually timed it: the Sobotka arc pays off in episode 11 with one of the biggest gut punches in the whole show. I remember watching live back in 2003 on HBO and my roommate at the time quit after 4 episodes of season 2, then came back years later and admitted he was wrong. The thing people get wrong is thinking a slow burn means filler, when really it's setup for stuff that matters way later. If you bailed on the docks the first time, did you go back and change your mind?
