My wife and I could never agree on shows. She likes slow burns, I get bored after 20 minutes. Then I tried watching her favorite dramas at 1.5x speed with subtitles on. Now we finish a 10 episode season in two nights instead of three weeks. The dialog still lands, but the pacing feels alive. Has anyone else found a playback speed that fixed their couch debates?

Doesn't the acting feel rushed though? I tried that with a friend's favorite crime show and everyone's reactions were so fast it felt fake. The quiet moments, the pauses, those are where the emotion lives for me. I get the boredom thing, but maybe you two just need different shows instead of speeding up the good ones.
