The new season of that show about the space crew just feels off now

I binged the first two seasons back in 2021 and it was all tight, focused stories about survival. Now in season four, they spent three whole episodes on a love triangle between the pilot, the engineer, and a random new character from Earth. It's like the writers forgot what made the show good in the first place. Has anyone else felt a show completely lose its original spark?

and @joseph_bailey hit the nail on the head with that coffee shop comparison. For me, it was a survival show about a group stranded on an island. First two seasons were raw and focused on getting along and finding food. Then they added a whole drama series about who was secretly in love with who, and I just had to walk away. I went back and rewatched the early episodes instead, that's what worked for me.

See this happen all the time, not just with shows. My favorite coffee shop changed owners and now they focus on fancy pastries instead of the good, simple brew they were known for. It feels like once something gets popular, the people in charge try to fix what wasn't broken to pull in a bigger crowd.

Fix what wasn't broken" is the story of my life, I mean I tried to "improve" my hair and now I have bangs I regret. It's a whole vibe.

My buddy loved that cooking competition show for its hard challenges. They added a celebrity host last season and now it's all about his bad jokes. She deleted it from her watch list and hasn't looked back.
