Unpopular opinion: I was wrong to skip the first season of 'The Expanse'
A buddy told me the initial world-building was 'homework' and I'd regret it later, so I went back and binged it. Anyone else have a show they tried to jump into late and totally missed the point?

My friend said the same thing, and I finally get it after seeing what @carr.luna went through.

Zero clue who anyone was or why any of it mattered" - that's exactly how I felt trying to start The Expanse at season 2. @carr.luna I feel your pain, it's like showing up to a party right when everyone's drunk and you missed all the inside jokes. Had to do the walk of shame back to episode 1.

Oh man, skipping the first season of The Expanse is wild. What did you think was happening when you started later, like did the politics and the protomolecule just seem like random nonsense? How do you even get the stakes without all that setup?

My cousin swore up and down that you could start "Attack on Titan" at season three. Tried it, had zero clue who anyone was or why any of it mattered. Felt like walking into the last half of a movie. Had to go all the way back to the beginning just to get my bearings. Some shows really are all setup.
