Used to grab whatever was on Netflix, now I keep a ranked list on my fridge after wasting 6 hours on a dud
Back in 2021 I would just open Netflix and scroll for 20 minutes until my wife got mad and we watched whatever looked okay. Then we burned a whole Saturday on some 8 episode mystery show that fell apart in the finale, and I started keeping a paper list on the fridge of stuff friends swear by. Right now we're three episodes into The Bear on Hulu and it's the first thing in months that my wife hasn't checked her phone during. What's the one show you tell everybody to watch that actually holds up all the way through and not just the first season?
The "wife checked her phone" test is the real gauge, isn't it? My partner and I went through the exact same thing, scrolling forever and then landing on some garbage we forgot by Tuesday. We started a note on the fridge too, and the rule is nobody gets to add a show unless they finished it themselves, start to finish, no bailing halfway. The one I push on everybody is Dark on Netflix, it's German and you have to actually pay attention with the subtitles, but it sticks the landing in a way most shows just don't. Six hours on a dud hurts, but a show that falls apart in the last two episodes almost hurts worse.
