Wal-Mart parking lot changed how I pick shows
Last month I was waiting in my car at Wal-Mart. Saw a guy sitting in his truck for like 20 minutes. Finally asked him what he was doing. He said he was finishing an episode of Silo because the cliffhanger was too good. Now I only pick shows that make me want to stay in my car. Any shows out there with those killer episode endings?

Yeah, that's the trick. Severance is the only show that's done that for me lately.

@lee.cora hit it right on the nose with that "permission to be still" part. I've definitely used a good episode ending as an excuse to just sit there and not deal with whatever's waiting inside. My personal parking lot champion is From on MGM+ - every single episode ends with something so messed up you just sit there going "what did I just watch." It's gotten to the point where my wife knows if I pull in and the car doesn't turn off for ten minutes, it's either From or I'm trying to avoid helping unload the groceries.

Know exactly what you mean. Honestly I've noticed this whole parking lot thing is just part of a bigger pattern where people are carving out these weird little pockets of time for themselves. Like you see folks sitting in their cars before work, or hanging out in driveways after getting home, or even just standing in their kitchens staring at nothing. It's not just about shows either. People are using those moments to decompress, to finish a thought, to delay going inside where there's chores or kids or whatever. Tbh the best show endings are the ones that give you a perfect excuse to just sit there a few extra minutes. It's like the show is handing you permission to be still. And honestly that's rare in regular life now.
