A guy at the county fair said something about my work that I still think about
This was maybe seven years ago at the Clark County Fair, where I had a small demo booth. An older man, hands all scarred, watched me forge a simple leaf keychain for a while. When I finished, he leaned in and said, 'You can see the fire in the steel, but you can also see the quiet in your hands.' He didn't buy anything, just nodded and walked off. It was the best way anyone has ever described the focus this craft needs. Has a stranger ever given you a piece of advice that just fit perfectly?

A lady at a bus stop in Portland once watched me struggling to tie a complicated knot on a tent I was setting up for a friend's art installation. She just said, "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." Then she walked away before I could even say thanks. I still hear her voice in my head whenever I get frustrated with something fiddly, like untangling a necklace chain or trying to get the perfect fold on a paper bag to keep chips fresh. That one sentence totally changed how I approach any kind of manual stuff.

Oh wow, that gave me chills! That stranger totally saw right into the heart of your work. It's wild how a few perfect words from someone you'll never see again can just stick with you forever. I get what @brooke_foster51 means about those little bits of advice, but yours is on another level, it's like he described your whole state of mind. I had a mailman once tell me my garden looked "honest" and I still puzzle over what he meant, but yours is so clear and good.
