Forged 40 bottle openers in one weekend at a demo in Macon and my right elbow is still yelling at me
Did a living history demo at the Georgia State Fair in Macon and decided to knock out 40 bottle openers as giveaway pieces, which was a dumb idea because I was swinging a 3 lb hammer for maybe 9 hours total across two days. My elbow swelled up like a softball by Sunday night and my tong hand has a blister the size of a quarter that popped mid-afternoon Saturday. The crowd loved it, sold the whole basket at $12 a piece, but I am done treating my arm like it is made of iron. How many hours do you all cap yourselves at before your joints start filing complaints?
Wait, you sold every single one at $12 a piece? That is $480 for a weekend of work but your elbow swelled up like a softball, that part made me cringe just reading it. Nine hours of swinging a 3 lb hammer is wild, I usually tap out around 4 or 5 hours before my shoulder starts doing that weird clicking thing. And a blister the size of a quarter that popped mid-demo? I would have packed up right there, no way I could keep going with an open blister on my tong hand. The crowd loving it probably kept you going longer than your body wanted, that is how it always goes at demos. For real though, ice that elbow and take at least a week off before you touch the hammer again.
