Honestly, I was sure my old hammer handle was fine until it snapped mid-strike.

I used to think replacing it was a hassle, but a properly fitted hickory handle changed how I control every hit. Tbh, it's made my forging days way smoother and safer.

In my experience, we often put up with tools or gear that are just good enough until they fully give out. It happens with stuff like worn-out shoes or a phone with a cracked screen, where the upgrade feels minor but actually changes your whole day. You don't notice the daily struggle until it's gone, and everything just works better.

My 2012 laptop took over a minute to boot up, and I dealt with that for two years. Every time I turned it on, I'd grab a coffee just to wait. It made simple tasks feel like a chore, but I kept putting off buying a new one. When it finally died, the replacement felt like a miracle. Why do we accept so much daily friction instead of making small upgrades sooner? Is it just about money, or is there a deeper habit of ignoring problems until they force our hand?

Ugh, my old phone was so slow that replacing it felt like getting my time back.

But what if the old handle was actually dangerous? A clean break is better than a slow crack that sends wood splinters flying.
