Switched from a 2 pound to a 4 pound cross peen hammer for drawing out stock

I mean, my arm gets tired faster, but I'm getting twice the work done in the same time. Is the extra speed worth the fatigue, or should I just stick with the lighter tool?

Sounds like a great way to build character.

Totally agree, it's like the hard stuff forces you to grow in ways comfort never could. You learn what you're actually made of when things don't go your way. That kind of character sticks with you long after the easy road is forgotten. It's the one thing nobody can ever take from you.

I get what you're saying Matthew, but I gotta push back on that idea that hard times always build character. Sometimes it just leaves you bitter and scared to try anything new. You mentioned "you learn what you're actually made of" but for a lot of people, that lesson is just finding out you have nothing left to give. The hard stuff doesn't always stick around as some badge of honor - it can just dig a hole in you that never fills back up. Comfort might not teach you grit, but it gives you a chance to actually enjoy life without constantly waiting for the next disaster. Not everyone comes out stronger from that fire, some of us just end up with scars that slow us down.

But sometimes the hard stuff just breaks you instead.
