The forge was a total ghost town on Tuesday and it was weirdly perfect.

I was the only one in the whole shop for about four hours. I finally got to work on a tricky Damascus billet without any distractions. The quiet let me hear the steel's texture change under the hammer, something I usually miss. Has anyone else had a day like that where the empty space just clicked for a project?

That sounds amazing. I've had a few jobs where the site was empty and it just lets your brain lock in. When you could hear the steel's texture change, was it a specific sound that told you something was going right, or was it more about the rhythm being off?

Ever wonder if the steel gets lonely when it's just you two in the shop? That kind of quiet would make me jumpy, like I'm waiting for a jump scare. I'd probably start talking to the anvil just to break the silence. Sounds peaceful for you, but my brain would be making up noises after the first hour. Guess some people just work better when it feels like the world ended.

Thought that too til I heard the steel sing, @david_walker97.
