Why does nobody talk about how cheap mild steel really is compared to buying new bar stock
I keep seeing guys ask about where to find bar stock and it bugs me because there's a scrapyard off Route 6 in Ohio that sells 1 inch mild steel rounds for 40 cents a pound, and I have pulled clean drops out of their bin for two years now. Everyone wants to order online and pay 3 bucks a pound plus shipping when literally half the metal on earth is sitting in a yard down the road. Where do you all source your stock?
