Choosing between a 3-hour game night and my friend's birthday party was tough

My buddy's party was at 7 PM on Saturday, but my regular group had a special Gloomhaven session planned for the same time. I picked the game night because we were about to finish a campaign we started six months ago. Do you ever feel bad about missing real life stuff for board games?

Missing real life stuff used to bug me, but finishing a campaign you started with friends is real life too.

But what if you miss out on something you can't get back? Jessica's point is nice, but that party was a one time thing.

Honestly I read this thing once about how we call some stuff "real life" like it's more important. Tbh finishing a Gloomhaven campaign is a real memory you made with people. Missing a party kinda sucks, but you were also keeping a promise to your game group. That time spent isn't less real just because you're rolling dice.
