Gloomhaven's setup is a chore, but keeping a 3D printed organizer beat any app I tried
After 15 sessions, I found the printed trays from Etsy saved 20 minutes per play versus the digital helper apps, so why do folks still swear by those clunky screen setups instead of just sorting the damn pieces once?
I was in the app camp for like a year and honestly thought the physical trays were just people being stubborn about cardboard. Then a buddy brought his Etsy setup to game night and we were playing in like 10 minutes while I was still tapping through the helper on my phone. The apps are fine for tracking stuff during the game, but for setup and teardown nothing beats just dumping each monster into its own labeled bin. I still use an app for the campaign bookkeeping but the sorting thing won me over.
