Just found out the original print run of 'Dune' from 1979 only had 500 copies. Saw it in a footnote of a blog post about Avalon Hill.

Wait, only 500 copies of the Avalon Hill Dune game? That's wild. Does that mean most of the sets people have now are later reprints? Wonder how much an original box would go for today.

Honestly, I just set up saved eBay searches for stuff like that.

Wait, is that the same Dune game from the 80s with the cool sandworm tokens? I've heard stories about people finding those at thrift stores for pocket change, it's kind of wild how stuff like that slips through the cracks. Honestly, good for Beth's friend, that's the kind of luck most of us can only dream about. I once found a complete copy of HeroQuest at a garage sale for five bucks, so I get that feeling of striking gold when the seller has no clue.

My friend found a beat up copy at a yard sale for ten bucks and nearly cried. The seller had no idea what they had, just thought it was some old board game. It's crazy how random luck plays into finding stuff like that.
