Just watched a player flip a table at a convention

I was at GenCon last Friday in the open gaming hall. This guy was playing a heavy euro game, something about resource management. He lost a key piece to a combo he had been building for like 45 minutes. He just stood up, grabbed the edge of the table, and flipped the whole thing. Cards and tokens flew everywhere. Some dude next to him got hit in the face with a wooden meeple. The staff came over and kicked him out. Has anyone else seen a meltdown that bad at a game event?

45 minutes of building a combo only to lose a key piece? I honestly think that guy was justified. We've all played those heavy euro games where you invest a huge chunk of time and one bad break just ruins everything. Plus if the guy next to him got hit by a stray meeple, that's on him for sitting too close to an intense game in the first place. Conventions are loud and intense places, sometimes you gotta blow off some steam in a dramatic way. Honestly getting kicked out for making a scene probably saved him from an even worse meltdown later on.

Wait, a wooden meeple to the face? That's wild. I've seen some salty gamers before but nobody ever got hit with a game piece like that. I would have been so mad if I was that guy just trying to play next to the table flipper. Honestly though, that kind of rage is next level. You gotta be able to lose a 45 minute setup and not take it out on the table and everyone around you.

Is that guy okay? I feel like getting hit with a little wooden piece in the face is bad enough but getting it from a total stranger losing their mind over a board game would make me just leave the whole place.
