Rulebook hog at my weekly game session is driving me nuts
He won't let anyone else explain the rules and it kills the mood. How do I politely get him to share the spotlight?

Honestly that's wild he won't let a single other person talk. Completely kills the fun of learning a game together. Sounds more about control than the actual rules.

Two game nights died exactly like that. The person explaining just would not let go of the rulebook. It stops being a game and becomes their solo show, which kills the whole vibe.

Man, I get it. Once tried to teach my cousin Monopoly and argued over auction rules for an hour. @the_gavin is right about the control thing turning fun into a lecture. Maybe ask to read the next rule out loud for practice. That way it's not a confrontation, just a shift. Works unless the guy really loves his rulebook throne.

That kind of control thing pops up everywhere, not just games... like @the_gavin said, it kills the shared fun. You see it in group projects or even planning a simple trip. Maybe just ask if someone else can read the next rule section to help everyone learn.
