Stopped by the old game store in Tacoma and it felt like a time capsule

I was back in my hometown last month and swung by the shop I used to hang at in high school. They still had the same worn-out copy of Cosmic Encounter set up on the demo table, with the rulebook held together by clear tape. The owner said they only sell about two board games a week now, mostly to older regulars. It made me wonder how many other local spots are still running on that kind of pure, quiet passion. Do you still have a place like that near you?

My local spot is a used book store that smells like cat and regret (I'm there every Saturday, so I'm part of the problem). The owner told me his business plan is just outlasting his own boredom.

Places like that are just a business with low sales. The owner probably keeps it open because the rent is cheap or they own the building. It's less about passion and more about not having a better option. My old comic shop closed because the landlord raised the rent, not because the owner lost heart.

Guess my passion is just... not having a better option either.
