That one Thursday when the whole board game night fell apart

Last spring I had a game night planned for weeks. Six people confirmed, I had Gloomhaven set up on the table, snacks ready. Then one by one they all canceled by 3pm with excuses like kid sick or car trouble. Ended up playing solo scenarios in my basement and ate the whole veggie tray myself. Has anyone else had a perfect plan just evaporate like that?

Honestly I used to be one of those people who'd just shrug off last minute cancellations. Figured it was no big deal, people have lives, whatever. But after my own game night got nuked like that I get it now. It's not just the wasted food or the setup time. It's the buildup. You spend days looking forward to something, pick out the right snacks, clear your schedule. Then poof. Nothing. And you're just sitting there with a veggie tray and a whole lot of silence. That disappointment sticks with you longer than you'd think.

Oh man, a whole veggie tray by yourself? That's brutal. I can't believe everyone bailed in one afternoon like that - that's some real bad luck. At least you got to play Gloomhaven solo, though the whole setup for nothing must have stung. I would have been rage-eating those carrot sticks.

Man, that reminds me of a buddy of mine. He bought a HUGE veggie platter for a game night and everyone canceled within like 20 minutes of each other. He was so ticked off he just sat there eating broccoli and ranch dip while watching YouTube videos of people failing at Mario Maker. Said he finished the whole tray in under an hour out of pure spite. The worst part was he didn't even have any good dip left, just the sad little cup of ranch they give you.
