Caught myself still using a soapstone on carbon steel last week
Been doing tube welding for 15 years and I finally switched to a carbide scribe about 6 months ago after a buddy in Gary showed me his setup. Anyone else stick with old habits longer than they should?

Wait, @kai_ramirez38 you actually let rust get on a carbide scribe? That stuff is hardened steel, I've left mine in a puddle of rain water by accident and it just wiped right off.

Why would you bother switching? Soapstone works fine if you know what you're doing, and a scribe is just one more thing to lose or break on the truck.
