Copper fit-up trick with a harbor freight clamp

Struggled for ages getting 6 inch copper pipe flanges to sit dead level before welding, tried magnets and wedges and all that. Finally grabbed a cheap 4 inch trigger clamp from Harbor Freight, clamped it across the flange face and used the screw to micro adjust the high side. Worked perfect on a roof job in Tulsa last Thursday, saved me maybe 40 minutes of rework. Anyone else got a goofy tool hack like that they swear by?

40 minutes of rework sounds like a lot for a flange that's just sitting there. Not saying you're lying, but if it took that long to get 6 inch pipe level, maybe the real problem is the prep work before you even grab the clamp. Copper flanges are usually forgiving enough that a couple wedges should do the job unless something else is off. The clamp trick is fine, but it's not exactly a game changer. It's just a clamp doing what clamps do.
