Fought a rusted boiler tube for an hour before a guy showed me the trick
I was stuck on a stubborn tube in an old Cleaver-Brooks unit, beating on it with a sledge and getting nowhere. An old-timer walked over and said try a little heat on the sheet first, and it popped right out in under two minutes - now I keep a torch handy for any tight fit.

And here I thought the secret to boiler work was just a bigger hammer and a bad attitude. Turns out I was just missing a little warmth in my life, not a bigger sledge. Now I'm the guy walking around with a torch like it's a magic wand.

Right there with you. Swapped out my pipe wrench for a heat gun last month and felt like I discovered fire all over again. Nothing beats watching a frozen pipe just... give up and start flowing.

You know what, I get that feeling way more than I'd like to admit. There's something about applying the right amount of heat that just feels like you're unlocking a secret door instead of smashing through it with a sledge. I've had a few winters where I was practically hugging my torch because it was the only thing that made sense between me and a broken boiler at 3am. It's funny how we think brute force is the answer until we actually try the gentle approach and it works better. I'm glad you found your magic wand, honestly. A little warmth goes a long way in this trade.
