Just realized I spent 4 hours chasing a boiler leak that was just a loose drain valve
Could have fixed it in 10 minutes if I checked the obvious spots first. Anyone else waste a whole shift on something that stupid?

Wait, a whole lug wrench just sitting on the roof? That's wild. I would've never thought to look up there either.

Four hours is brutal for a drain valve. Did you at least find any other issues while you were tearing everything apart?

Just realized I spent 4 hours" - man I feel that. Last week I spent a whole afternoon trying to figure out why my truck was shaking at highway speeds. Checked the tires, the alignment, even the driveshaft. Finally my buddy walks over and points out I left a lug wrench on the roof of the cab. It was just sitting there rattling around. Felt like a complete idiot but at least I got a free lesson in checking the dumb stuff first.
