That week on the Delaware River bridge job back in 07 still sticks with me

We were swapping out 40 year old riveted sections in 95 degree heat and every single bolt hole lined up perfect on the first try for three straight days. Has anyone else had a stretch of work where the stars just align like that?

Read an article once about how some old bridge crews believed certain stretches of work were "blessed" by the original builders. Three days of perfect alignment in that heat sounds like one of those moments. Bet that coffee you bought for the crew that Friday tasted like victory.

Ran into a similar thing once with an old fishing buddy who swore his granddad's boat had a "lucky patch" of water off the coast where the fish practically jumped in. We spent three days out there in a heatwave like yours, not a single bite, but the engine started running smoother than ever after we anchored in that spot. Ended up buying everyone breakfast at a greasy spoon the next morning, feeling like we'd won some weird cosmic lottery instead of catching anything. Funny how those moments stick with you more than the actual work sometimes lol.

Nah the coffee thing's funny but it was actually a Saturday when we wrapped that stretch. Small detail but the way I remember it is we all hit up this diner in Florence and the waitress knew us by name at that point from the whole week. Those three days of perfect alignment felt like the bridge gods were finally cutting us a break.
