Wasted $85 on a digital angle finder when my $12 protractor did the same job on every 45
I bought one of those magnetic digital angle finders for $85 last month because a guy on a job in Ft. Worth swore it would speed up my cuts. Used it on maybe three miter runs and it fought me the whole time, the magnet kept slipping on the pipe and I was recalibrating it more than cutting. Pulled out my old $12 plastic protractor from the bottom of my bag, checked the same cuts, and they lined up dead on every time. Two weeks ago I finally returned the thing and put that $85 toward a new set of layout squares that I actually use every day. I get wanting the fancy tool, I do, but this one just gave me a number to stare at while I second-guessed cuts I already knew were right. Anyone else got a gadget in their bag that turned out to be a $80 paperweight?
