He snugged them all down from one side and the baffle warped 3/8 of an inch by the next shift. How are you all handling tube sheet bolt patterns on bigger drums, star or spiral?
Gary was right to be mad, that 3/8 inch warp comes from chasing the bolts around instead of working in a pattern. We run a star pattern on anything over 8 feet, start at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock, then work the clock positions across from each other, and do it in three passes at 30, 60, then full torque. The spiral works too on smaller drums but it pulls everything to the center so you have to watch your gasket creep on the last pass. Sounds slow but it beats cutting a warped baffle out with a torch.
