Debate: do old school sewing frames beat a modern book press? I have my doubts still.

I was always Team sewing frame cause that's how I learned, but last week I used a friend's lay-flat binding press setup and man, it was faster and cleaner for a 400 page text block. Has anyone else switched and found one method actually ruins the spine structure over time?

Honestly, @thomasb41, I gotta ask the same thing myself sometimes. People act like a hobby project needs enterprise level planning and a full budget breakdown. If it's just for fun and not handling sensitive data, why stress over every tiny detail? Just build it, break it, learn from it. That's the whole point of a hobby, right?
