Shoutout to the grain direction tip I ignored for 2 years
Finally figured out why my book covers kept warping after a week. Turns out the grain on my book board was running the wrong way. Swapped to proper grain direction on my last 3 journals and they came out flat as a pancake. Anyone else have a simple fix they avoided way too long?

Oh man, I feel this in my bones! I spent a full year scratching my head why my spines kept cracking until I realized I was literally folding against the grain. Felt like a real dummy when I finally watched a 30 second video that explained it all. My first proper grain-direction book actually made me tear up a little from pure relief.

Dude, YES. Same thing happened to me with those cheap paperback digests I used to buy. I thought I was just cursed with bad luck that every single one would crack after three reads. Turns out I was folding them like an accordion instead of letting the grain do its thing. Felt like such a goober when my buddy showed me how to check the paper direction by bending a corner. Now I do that before I even start reading.

Right there with you. Spent two years wrecking my manga collection before someone explained grain direction to me. Felt like such a moron when I finally bent a page the right way and felt it give instead of crack. Now I practically sniff the edges before I buy anything new.
