Why does nobody talk about the glue failing on a hot day?
Doing a rebind in my garage last August in Phoenix. It was 107 outside, maybe 95 in the garage. I used my usual PVA glue and waited the normal drying time. Next day I go to open the book and the spine just cracked. Pages fell out like a cheap calendar. Turns out heat messes with the glue bond way more than I thought. So now I'm wondering: do you guys adjust your glue mix or drying time based on weather? Or just work in a climate controlled room and forget about it?

Honestly, caseywalker, heat can help PVA set faster but if it gets too hot it messes with the bond long term. Did you actually try opening a book that set in 95 degree heat, or are you just going off what you read online? I'm curious because that garage test wrecked my whole project and I'd love to know if you've got a different experience with it.

My garage experiment turned my book into a weird stiff brick that cracked when I tried to open it, so I'm with you on heat being a tricky thing. Guess I learned the hard way that hotter isn't always better, huh?
