A gardener in Ohio changed how I see my whole plant shelf setup

I was talking to this retired lady at a community swap near Columbus last Saturday, and she said, 'You're collecting plants, not growing them,' after I bragged about my 40 pots. She pointed out that I'd never repotted any of them since I bought them 3 years ago, and that hit different because she was right, I was just buying for the look. Has anyone else had a stranger call out a habit you thought was a hobby?
