Just hit 200 different houseplant varieties in my collection. Is that too much or not enough?

I counted them all up last night after a friend joked I might have a problem. Started with like 10 pothos two years ago. Now I have things like variegated string of pearls and some obscure philodendron I found at a nursery in Ohio. Half my friends think I'm nuts, the other half say they wish they had the space. Where do you draw the line between hobby and hoarding?

Has anyone actually counted or are we just guessing? I mean 200 sounds impressive but maybe some are just different colors of the same pothos.

Damn, 200 different varieties? That's wild. I thought my 30 were getting out of hand but you're on another level entirely. I mean, as long as you can still walk through the room and water them all, I'd say it's not hoarding yet, just serious dedication.

Ngl, I think you've passed the hobby line and are now running a small botanical garden out of your living room. Honestly, hoarding is when you don't water them and they turn into dead sticks, but 200 varieties just sounds like you're a plant dealer without the price tags. Tbh, your friend is probably just jealous you can name more plants than they can. I mean, unless you've got stacks of dead plants in the corner, you're good. Keep going, you might hit 300 by next year and then what, open a greenhouse?
