Killed 3 pothos in a row until I quit watering on a schedule and just picked up the pot
I had a pothos on my windowsill in Bakersfield that dropped every leaf twice, and a snake plant that rotted from the bottom up. I was watering both on Sundays like clockwork. Then a guy at the nursery on Chester Ave asked me one thing: how heavy does the pot feel? I started lifting each pot before I even thought about water. If it felt light, I watered it in the sink until it ran out the holes. If it still had some weight, I walked away. That was 7 months ago. The pothos has 9 new leaves and the snake plant pushed out two pups. Same tap water, same window, same pots. The only thing that changed was my hand on the pot instead of a day on the calendar. Curious if anyone else checks weight over soil moisture, or do you all just stick a finger in?
