Moved my fiddle leaf fig from the east window to the south one, night and day difference in 5 weeks

My fiddle leaf fig in Portland had brown spots and droopy leaves for months, growing maybe an inch. I finally moved it from my east-facing kitchen window to the south-facing living room one and it pushed out 4 new leaves in 5 weeks. Is light positioning really that much of a game changer for stubborn houseplants, or did I get lucky with the season change?
