Question about my spider plant that was turning brown
Honestly, I thought I was helping by watering my spider plant every other day. Ngl, the tips kept getting brown and crispy, so I watered it more. Then I saw a video from a plant shop in Austin that said spider plants hate wet feet and need to dry out between waterings. I cut back to once a week and now it's pushing out three new babies. Has anyone else over-loved a plant like that?

Totally drowned a cactus once thinking it looked thirsty. I gave it a full cup of water every few days until it basically melted into a sad, mushy blob. My logic was that it lived in a desert, so it must be really parched all the time. I still feel bad for that little guy.

Oh man, that cactus story hurts. I did the exact same thing with a little aloe plant, just kept giving it water because the soil looked dry on top. It turned into this soggy, brown mess and I felt awful. It's so easy to kill them with kindness, thinking you're helping. We live and learn, but yeah, I still miss that aloe.

Actually, I've found spider plants can handle more water than people say. Mine gets a drink every three days and it's never been happier. Maybe it depends on the light or soil mix.
