Spent three whole days trying to figure out why my new monstera's leaves were curling, only to realize my humidifier was aimed at the wall
I got this beautiful monstera deliciosa from a local nursery about a week ago. The leaves started curling inwards almost immediately, which I know is usually a humidity or watering issue. I checked the soil, moved it away from the vent, everything. I even bought a new humidifier and had it running for hours. Turns out, I had the humidifier on a shelf pointing directly at the wall behind the plant, so the mist was just hitting the drywall and not actually reaching the leaves at all. Felt like such an idiot. Moved the humidifier to a different spot yesterday and the leaves are already starting to relax. Has anyone else done something this obvious and wasted a bunch of time?

Yeah I used to think more gadgets was the answer for everything too. Totally get what @karen_hill3 is saying about checking the simple stuff, it's so easy to overcomplicate things. Your humidifier story is the perfect example of that.

Oh, that's too funny! I used to be so sure my plants just needed more water when they looked sad. I killed a poor fern that way. Now I always check where the light actually falls during the day before I decide it's thirsty. Your story is a perfect reminder to look at the simple stuff first.

Hah, yes! I bought this fancy moisture meter for my peace lily. Thing kept reading "dry". Drowned the poor plant before I realized the meter was just broken. Felt so dumb. Now I just use my finger to check the soil. Works way better.
