Took me 4 hours to figure out why my African violet stopped blooming
Turns out I was watering it with tap water and the minerals were building up in the soil. Switched to distilled water three weeks ago and now I have 7 blooms going. Has anyone else dealt with this with their violets?

Funny enough, I had a similar issue with my peace lily last year (though not quite as picky as violets, I've heard). I started using collected rainwater for all my houseplants and the difference was honestly night and day, especially with the leaves looking less crispy. Your violet must be thrilled with that distilled water switch - those blooms are a real payoff for the effort.

Night and day" difference from rainwater? Isn't that a bit dramatic?

@val974 Rainwater actually still has some minerals and stuff in it from the air and whatever it runs off of, so it's not the same as distilled water. But yeah, the violet is definitely happier without tap water, that's for sure.
