Unpopular opinion: the moss on the north wall of the old train depot in Ely is more interesting than the flowers
I stopped by the old train depot in Ely last Saturday to kill time before a haircut and ended up crouching by the north wall for 20 minutes. There's this thick green moss growing in a band about 2 feet tall right where the roof runoff hits, and it gets thinner as you go up. What got me is the moss only shows up in that narrow strip, not 3 feet to the left where the sun hits. It's like the building made its own little climate zone. Does water flow or shade matter more for moss like this, or is it a mix of both?
