Visited the old botanical garden in St. Louis the other day and the greenhouse felt different
Went back to the Missouri Botanical Garden for the first time in maybe 10 years. The big dome greenhouse still has all those tropical plants but the labels are gone on half of them. Used to be every little fern had a little plaque with its name and where it came from. Now it's just a bunch of greenery with no story. Kind of felt like visiting an old friend who forgot your name. Anyone else notice places like that losing their details over time?

I get the frustration, I really do. But honestly, I kind of liked it better without all the little name tags everywhere. When I went last month, I ended up just looking at the plants themselves instead of reading their life stories. The shape of a leaf or the way the light came through the big fronds became the whole point. It felt more like being in a real jungle instead of a museum exhibit, you know?

Wait, wait, they actually took the little plaques off the ferns?? That breaks my heart! I always thought those signs were what made the Climatron special, you could spend an hour just reading where each weird plant came from. Without the labels it's just a bunch of green stuff, totally takes the magic out of it.

Flinched reading that. Wait, they actually pulled those? I always figured those plaques were like, permanently bolted down or something. That just sounds lazy on their part, not a real improvement for anyone.
