A old timer in Phoenix told me to quit using a level on every course and just trust my eye for straight lines

Spent 20 minutes arguing with him on a job site last Tuesday before I tried it on a garden wall and somehow my plumb readings came out tighter than when I used the tool.

My old timer buddy in Mesa told me the same thing three years ago. I started practicing on small block walls and now I only grab my level for final checks on long runs. It really does train your eye faster than you'd think.

Same here. Once you get the feel for it, you almost don't even think about it anymore. I still grab my level for peace of mind on the final pass, but my eye catches the big stuff way quicker now.

Mesa? That's a hell of a dry heat to be learning block work in, @abby_fisher. Respect.
