Bought a $200 mortar mixer off Facebook Marketplace that died after two hours
The guy said it was barely used but it threw a belt in the middle of a retaining wall job and I spent more time trying to get my money back than if I just rented one from Home Depot, anyone else get burned on used gear from strangers?

Honestly I used to think Facebook deals were always worth the risk but that mixer headache made me realize sometimes you just gotta pay for the peace of mind with a rental.

Two hours of work and you're already calling it a burned deal? Mortar mixers are simple machines - a thrown belt is like a ten dollar fix and twenty minutes of your time. Idk, seems like learning basic small engine maintenance would save way more money than crying over a used mixer that probably just sat in someone's garage for years.

Did you actually try turning the pulley by hand first or just assume it was the belt?
