DAE know that mortar from a bucket goes bad in about 90 minutes in 95 degree heat? Found this out the hard way on a job in Phoenix.
Honestly I was on a job in Phoenix last month and the temp hit 105 by 10am. Had a half bucket of Type S left over from a porch step repair and went to grab a water break. Came back maybe 40 minutes later and that stuff was already stiffening up on me. I looked it up after and the spec sheets say pot life drops to around 90 minutes once it's over 90 degrees, which I never actually read before. Now I mix smaller batches and keep the bucket in the shade. Any of you got tricks for stretching mortar in the heat? Want to hear what works before my next summer job.
