Hit 10,000 bricks laid this morning on that church job in Akron
I been keeping count in a little notebook for years, nothing official. But I added it up at lunch today and realized I passed 10,000 bricks just on this one project. That number surprised me because I never thought of my work in totals like that. It made me think about all the walls I've built and never really looked back at. Has anyone else ever tracked a specific milestone like that on a job?

I read a blog post once where a stonemason tracked his work for 20 years and hit around 700,000 bricks total, which made me realize how your little notebook is like a time capsule for all those days. It's cool that you've got it all written down by hand, too, because that feels more real than some app on your phone. That kind of record really makes you stop and appreciate the work you've done.

That number surprised me" - man, I bet. It's wild how the little things add up when you're not watching. I worked with an old framer once who kept a tally of every nail he drove, and he said when he hit a million he bought himself a new hammer lol. That kinda milestone makes you realize every wall you've built is basically a stack of single moments you never thought twice about. I bet if you looked back at your notebook, you'd see all the different kinds of bricks too - the ones that split wrong, the ones that were perfect, the ones you had to tap three times to set just right.

Man that reminds me of my buddy Tom who used to count every single brick he laid on a jobsite. When he hit 10,000 he said he sat down and just stared at the wall for like ten minutes lol.
