My initial resistance to night work vanished after a week of perfect mortar beds.

The morning check showed a perfect wall, all because we worked at night.

Oh man, that reminds me of the only time I ever poured concrete after dark. We had to fix a patio slab before a big party. It was dead quiet, just the hum of a single work light, and it came out so smooth. Something about the cool air and no one around just let you focus.

Seriously, that's so true. I've seen this happen with other boring jobs, like washing dishes late or organizing a closet early in the morning. When the world is quiet and no one needs you, you just get into a rhythm and do a cleaner, sharper job. It's like your brain finally has the space to just focus on one thing.

Make it sound like no big deal.

Notice how it works with creative stuff too, like writing or sketching. The quiet lets you hear your own thoughts better, which is kind of the whole point. You just end up with a cleaner first draft.
