My trowel handle snapped after 18 years, the replacement felt wrong for a month

I've had the same Marshalltown trowel since I started doing block work in Tacoma back in 2007. That handle had my grip worn right into it. Last Tuesday it finally cracked clean off during a frost pour. Bought the exact same model new, but the handle is thicker or something. My wrist ached for two weeks and my joints came out sloppy. Anyone else gone through this after using the same tool forever? Did you adapt or find a different brand that feels closer to the old one?
