Heads up about the discount meat bin at my local Save Mart in Reno

I stopped by the clearance meat section on Friday morning and noticed the sell-by dates were way closer than the stickers suggested. The pork chops said use by Saturday but the package smelled off right there in the store. I told the manager and he said they've had complaints for weeks about that specific cooler staying too warm. Has anyone else caught their store doing this or is it just that location? I used to grab those deals all the time but now I'm checking every pack twice before I buy.

The “smelled off right there in the store” part is doing a lot of work, but honestly, pork can smell funky even when it’s totally safe, especially if it’s been sitting in a plastic pack. I’m not saying the cooler isn’t broken, but I’d trust the sell-by date over my nose unless it’s really rotten.
