Hot take: My 'struggle meals' from college look like gourmet spreads now.

Back then, a 'good' dinner was instant ramen with a single egg. Now, after learning to cook with dried beans and frozen veggies, my $20 weekly budget actually makes real food. Anyone else have a cheap meal that got way better over time?

Oh man, for real. I used to think boxed mac and cheese was a whole meal. Now I can make a giant pot of chili from scratch for like five bucks and eat for days. It's crazy how much better cheap food gets when you learn a few tricks.

Right? What's your go-to chili trick? I used to just dump a can of beans in tomato sauce, but learning to toast the spices first was a total game changer (and costs basically nothing).

Remember @tarar38's chili trick when my beans burn.
